ANALYSIS OF UNSEEN ARTWORK
The unseen artwork analysis is broken up into two parts. The first part (a) asks you to choose an artwork from the colour insert. The second part (b) asks you to explain the materials and techniques the artist has used to produce the artwork.
You should choose and artwork that relates to the medium you have focused on throughout the year – e.g., if you have been working on photography then you should choose a photo.
You will need to clearly and articulately discuss the work in relation to it’s aesthetic qualities and compositional structure. You will need to comment on individual characteristics of the work that reflect the artist’s style.
You will also need to use confident art terminology that shows you have a clear understanding of the materials and techniques used to create the work.
ALWAYS carefully read the information under the unseen artwork you have chosen, as this will give you valuable information about who created the work and the materials used (for example, oil on canvas).
